C3 - Illustration illusion
Jillian Fang at Jul. 17,2007 (Best speaker of the meeting)
What’s Illusion? What does it mean? Does anyone have any experience that you believe what you saw, but the result has another meaning? We can say “Illusion” may occur to you.
Illusion’s meaning is a distortion of a sensory perception.
Perception means understanding, comprehension.
It belongs to psychology, philosophy, and also medical science. It sounds a complex problem. I just concentrate my subject on visual illusions, illusion of illustrations.
I try to use some illustrations that will be well known and understood for you.
Do you remember I have shown you the illustrations last meeting?
Illustration is a form of visual art. Some illustrations we can realize, but some ones we don’t. For example, these are illustrations. The picture one is watercolor work. …we can understand it. Red chilly, plants.
The second one is a girl with some antique statuary. It was made by color pencils, watercolor. The third one……… can you understand the picture what it communicate?
Have you ever thought about these amazing illustrations?
And do these illustrations make you feel like illusion?
Now, we are going to test and verify amazing illustrations illusion.
Let me show you two pictures. The first one…..
What do you see?
How many things can you realize? The first picture ………
Can you describe the detail from the picture? An old man…An old baldness man with his hand on his chest….. archway or arched door, wall ….. Yes, all of you are right, but look at the picture carefully. You will find an old man in white color clothes. On his left side is a woman in a beautiful dress, and a dog is lying on the road.
The second picture………can you describe the detail from the picture again?
What do you see? A woman? What kind of the woman can you understand?
Both of them are women, but they are seen the different age by your eyes or thinking from everyone. She is not only a young lady but also an old woman.
If you saw an old woman, this is her nose as well as a lady’s jaw.
This is an old woman’s thin lips someone saw it as a young lady’s necklace. This is an old woman’s neckerchief as a lady’s overcoat. This is an old woman’s eye as a lady’s ear. This is the fringe of the old woman’s face as well as a lady’s head and neck to take a 45 degree turn. We do not talk about why does anyone make an opposite thinking? Because I have told you, that belongs to psychology and philosophy. I just let you know people face the same thing but sometimes they have expressed different thoughts. I hope you can enjoy my subject and enjoy amazing Illustration illusion. Thank you!
